What started as a last-minute photography session turned into something neither of us expected
Brian had recently proposed to Jocelyn and reached out because he wanted to capture this special moment in their lives. The plan came together quickly, and before long, we found ourselves at Playa Tamarindo in Guánica, Puerto Rico, on one of those spectacular Caribbean days that makes you fall in love with the island all over again.
From the very beginning, I could tell this was going to be different.
Brian and Jocelyn were incredibly fun to photograph. They laughed, played, ran through the sand, got in the water, and simply enjoyed being together.
Nothing felt forced.
I barely had to direct them—their connection and their personalities did all the work.
And honestly, that's what I love most about sessions like this.
Yes, the light was beautiful.
Yes, the beach was incredible.
But their energy was the real magic.
A few weeks later, I received another message from them.
This time, it wasn't about an engagement session.
They were getting married—and they wanted me to photograph their wedding.
What started as a rushed photo session unexpectedly became the beginning of another chapter, and one of the most fun sessions I've had the privilege of photographing.
Sometimes, the best stories are the ones you never planned.
